As Australia moves into late spring (the uncontested best season, or part therof), we are venturing out into our local parks, cafes and libraries with our laptops under our arms. With that comes an opportunity to explore fashion again – yes, we are no longer just dressing our top halves!
The current fashion vibe reflects optimism and hope, through the popularisation of everything breezy, bright and fun. Here’s a little analysis of the colours we’ll be wearing in spring/summer 2020.
lilac
Fashion influencers are LOVING lilac. This soft purple has the same cute factor as millennial pink, and looks amazing worn in a top with your favourite blue jeans.
mint
Mint green says freshness and vivacity, and is perfect for spring. However, green is divisive: while it makes those with blue undertones glow, it can highlight redness or sallowness in the skin when worn next to the face. If you are of a more pink or yellow tone, try wearing it further from the face in a skirt, bag or shoes.
mustard & tan
If you have a warmer skin tone, and icy pastels don’t work for you, this is your trend. Mustard and tan shades are popping up all over as a softer alternative to black. When paired with white or cream, this tonal look is simply sophisticated. Try these hues in shoes, blazers or belts to take a basic look to the next level.
